Markup

Markup is the term used to describe the formal syntax code used in text-based programming languages. In HTML the markup consists of tags that are set off by less than and greater than signs. For example, the markup tag for a line break in HTML is "<BR>". For a complete list of HTML markup tags, please see the topic section, HTML markup tags.
